Thurgood Marshall: This lawyer and civil rights activist successfully argued Brown v. Board of Education before the U.S. Supreme Court in 1954. In 1967, he became the Court's first Black justice.

Miriam Makeba: Known as Mama Africa, this award-winning singer, songwriter, and activist was exiled for 30 years due to her outspoken opposition to South Africa's apartheid regime.
